“Sailing and navigation have been part of the IWC brand universe since the 1980s,” explained Christoph Grainger- Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “With Solaris, we have found the perfect partner to make this world come alive.”

Solaris customers have been able to aquire a special edition IWC timepiece for many years. But with this new partnership, there is now an option to fit the yachts themselves with meteorological instruments in the classic style of IWC. The barometers, hygrometers, thermometers and clocks come in the same characteristic and easy-to-read designs that are typical of the dials of many IWC watches.

“We have been building yachts with a focus on design, quality, robustness, functional performance and long service life for over 40 years,” added Paolo Buonvicini, co-owner of Solaris Yachts. “These are values that IWC also embodies. We are proud to welcome the brand on board as a partner.”

Among the latest timepiece of IWC there is a reworked version of the Portugieser Chronograph now with in-house calibre and see-through back.

Externally, the iconic design of the new models, which are grouped under Reference 3716, remains unchanged. The decisive new feature is hidden away inside the watch: the IWC-manufactured 69355 calibre ensures the precise display and measurement of time.

The rugged, precision chronograph movement with the classic column-wheel design can be seen through the transparent back. An automatic pawl-winding system builds up a power reserve of 46 hours.

Six different versions are available in 18-carat 5N gold or stainless steel. The stainless-steel models are equipped with the newly developed butterfly folding clasp, which is particularly comfortable in wear.
